When are the lessons?
You can check out our full time table via our booking app by clicking HERE
How much are lessons?
Lessons will vary depending on if you buy a class pass or a course or single lessons. Single lessons will be £12 and class passes will reduce these. When you join a course it reduces the price too.
Are the lessons just for women?
Our school is open to everyone. We find that the classes tend to attract more women in general, so you may find your classes are filled with mostly women however we always welcome anyone who would like to attend and give pole a go!
What do we wear for classes?
Depending on how long people have been training for will depend on what they are wearing. You tend to find the longer people have been pole training the shorter their shorts become as it makes it easier to grip when you have more skin to grip to the pole. Wear what you feel comfortable in, but be aware that you will need to be able to grip on to the pole so having shorts is really essential. You can also buy leggings that will stick to the pole and use these for some classes if you are uncomfortable with your legs out. We recommend wearing comfortable short shorts and a crop top with a t-shirt over the top. Layer up for the start of class and as you get warmer and start with pole you will find you will feel more comfortable taking off your layers. This blog HERE goes through what to expect in your first class. You can also see a video of Rebecca HERE wearing high waisted shorts, a crop top and a sports bra underneath. We would recommend wearing something like this in beginners classes. Cycle shorts are good as you can roll them up and down when required if you do not want short shorts.
What sort of music is played?
The music played during a class varies from instructor to instructor, however we do have a pole class specific playlist that we aim to play through some of the class so if you would like to add songs to this please let us know and we will add them. We always want to ensure we have a good mix of music for everyone to enjoy.

Is there a weight restriction?
Our poles will support weight up to 330lbs which is around 23 1/2 stone.
Can any age do pole?
Yes. Our classes are currently open for 18+. We may open some workshops to younger people that include different aerial activities, however at present our classes are open for everyone over the age of 18.
Will I stand out as a newbie? I’m very shy & have low confidence.
99% of people on the beginners courses will be new to pole. The 1% that are not new will not have done pole classes for years and will be back at the start too so you should feel comfortable and you will be going on a journey with everyone in your class at the same time. We are all in this together and our instructors are here to support you. When you join a pole community it’s like nothing else, it’s supportive, friendly and everyone wants to help everyone.
Will the poles be static or spinning types?
Our main classes will be static poles but we will have poles that can be put on to spin too so once we’ve done our first few beginners courses we will probably open up a spin class too.
Will it help to tone my wobbly areas?
Yes! Pole is an amazing exercise to help you tone up and get strong. It also helps you to build confidence.
Do you have to be flexible to start?
No. You don’t have to be flexible to start. We will work on flexibility as part of our classes and have extra support around classes and online to help you. Some people are naturally more flexible than others so never think because others are more flexible than you that they can do more, this is not the case.
Do you need good upper body strength to begin pole classes?
No. Although it is helpful to be strong already, it’s not essential. Strength doesn’t always transfer the same as it does in the gym to the pole. The classes will help you to become stronger as soon as you start so you may notice you feel sore after classes just like when you go to the gym. You should look after your body just as you would if you were lifting weights at the gym ensuring you are eating well and drinking plenty of water as this will assist with muscle recovery after sessions.
Am I fit enough for pole classes?
Anyone can start pole classes and progress on the joinery to become fitter. Everyone progresses at a different rate so it’s important not to compare to others in the class as we are all different and individual. You will become fit during the classes and it’s important to look after yourself and ensure you are eating well and drinking plenty of water whilst training as it is like a full body work out.
If you have any injuries or reasons you think you may not be fit enough to start it is important to speak to your instructor. You can speak to them privately too if you don’t want to discuss things with the full class. Your instructor can adapt the class for your needs if there is something you may feel may impact your abilities or if you have any injuries.
Will it hurt?
Yes. Doing pole is like doing a full body work out, so you may be sore afterwards because you are working your body and muscles. Make sure you are looking after your body and eating well and drinking plenty of water, just as you would if you were going to the gym. As time goes on and you continue to use the muscles the pain will lesson, we will also do strengthening and conditioning exercises in classes which will help you get stronger quicker and reduce the pain faster as you will be using the muscles a lot more.
It will also hurt when you progress through classes where the skin will contact with the pole which can cause a feeling a bit like a ‘Chinese burn’ and this can also cause bruising. As you continue your pole journey you will find the pain lessons and the skin thickens so you should experience less bruising as time passes and you continue your pole journey.
Does every one who tries pole pick it up or is it just not for some people?
When you first start pole classes it can be more of a challenge for some as it is for others. People progress in different ways and because of this it’s important not to compare your progress to others. Someone may progress in their strength in arms for example while another person may progress in the way they grip on the pole or in their leg strength. Another example is that one person may progress quicker in the confidence they feel, whilst another person may progress quicker in their arm strength. It’s so varied.
It’s important to think about what you want from the classes and as your Pole journey starts and progresses you’ll be able to pick classes that will support you the most with your pole goals.
How big are the groups?
Classes are up to 12 people, although may be a bit larger or smaller depending on the class and demand.
It's been years since I have done a pole class will my strength and muscles will come back?
Yes they will. It does take time and can be frustrating because your brain knows what it needs to do but your body can’t yet do it but it will come in time and we will ensure we have classes to assist you to train from the start and then also train and practice around classes too to build it up quicker.
How do you stop yourself falling? I don't think my upper body strength is anywhere it needs to be.
When you first start your pole journey you will be learning spins that you do as you are standing so it is unlikely you will fall due to the way your body is already positioned. Learning these standing spins will also support you to build and grow your strength, especially in your arms and upper body. As you progress in your pole journey you will also begin to learn how to go upside down, but only when you are ready. You will have an instructor supporting you and also have the option to have ‘spotting’. This means that your instructor who is trained in spotting will be on hand in case you feel like you may fall. There will also be mats that you will use underneath the poles so if you do fall you will have a soft landing.
