🍪 Choc-Orange Oat Bakes

A fiber-rich twist on a classic holiday flavuor. These cookies use oats for a slower energy release.

Ingredients:

  • 150g Self-raising flour

  • 100g Rolled oats (Jumbo oats preferred)

  • 100g Unsalted butter (softened)

  • 100g Light brown sugar/Honey

  • 1 Egg, beaten

  • Zest of 1 large orange

  • 150g chocolate orange (chopped up)

  • Optional: 1 tbsp milk (if dough is dry)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line two baking trays.

  2. Cream the butter, sugar, and orange zest until fluffy.

  3. Stir in the egg. Fold in the flour and oats until a thick dough forms.

  4. Fold in the chocolate chunks.

  5. Roll into 14–16 balls, place on trays, and flatten slightly.

  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes. Let cool to firm up.

Tip: Swap the milk chocolate for 70% dark chocolate orange to lower the refined sugar content while keeping the rich flavor.
