Professional Practice & Insurance Awareness

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

1. Identify the key types of insurance required when teaching aerial or fitness-based classes, including public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

2. Explain the importance of DBS checks and safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people.

3. Describe the role of documentation and parental consent forms in maintaining safe, transparent, and legally compliant classes.

4. Recognise the importance of collecting accurate medical information through tools such as a Children’s PAR-Q before participation in aerial activities.

5. Understand the concept of professional scope of practice, including the importance of teaching only within personal qualifications and competency levels.

6. Demonstrate awareness of professional responsibilities when teaching in external venues or freelance environments.

7. Explain the importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in maintaining safe, effective, and up-to-date teaching practices.

8. Apply professional practice principles in real-world scenarios, including responding appropriately to incidents while maintaining safety, safeguarding, and documentation standards.
