By the end of this module, learners will be able to:
- Understand core child protection principles in aerial settings
- Explain the rights of children to safety and protection.
- Describe prevention strategies, early intervention, and responsible confidentiality.
- Recognise how safeguarding applies specifically in aerial environments.
- Demonstrate safe spotting theory and appropriate physical contact
- Understand the concept of spotting techniques safely and in line with training.
- Explain the importance of asking permission and respecting physical boundaries.
- Observe and respond to children’s verbal and non-verbal cues of discomfort.
- Respond correctly to disclosures from children
- Listen calmly and empathetically without asking leading questions.
- Record disclosures accurately, including factual details, dates, and times.
- Report concerns promptly, following organisational or personal safeguarding policies.
- Identify signs of concern or potential abuse
- Recognise physical, behavioural, emotional, and environmental indicators of harm.
- Distinguish between normal participation behaviours and warning signs requiring action.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians
- Provide transparent explanations of class activities, safety measures, and skill progression.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and avoid overstepping into personal matters.
- Maintain professional conduct online and in the studio
- Model respectful behaviour and professional language at all times.
- Manage social media interactions appropriately and avoid private messaging students.
- Only share images or videos with appropriate permissions, ensuring safeguarding compliance.
- Apply safeguarding knowledge through scenario-based decision making
- Respond appropriately to written safeguarding scenarios (e.g., bullying, unsafe skill requests, video requests).
- Justify actions based on safeguarding principles, studio policies, and professional conduct expectations.
