Instructor Code of Conduct 

As a certified Kids Aerial Instructor, you are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and ethical conduct when working with children and young people.

All instructors completing this certification are expected to adhere to the following principles.

Professional Behaviour

Instructors must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when teaching, representing their studio, or delivering aerial activities.

This includes:

• Arriving prepared, on time, and ready to teach safely.
• Maintaining appropriate language and behaviour around children.
• Demonstrating professionalism in both in-person and online environments.
• Acting as a positive role model for students.

Children often mirror the behaviour of the adults around them. Your conduct sets the tone for the learning environment.

Safeguarding Responsibility

Instructors must prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all students.

This includes:

• Following safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Reporting any safeguarding concerns according to the relevant safeguarding policy.
• Ensuring appropriate supervision during all activities.

Safeguarding is a legal and ethical responsibility and must always take priority over performance or progression.

Safety Standards

Instructors must deliver classes in accordance with safe aerial practice.

This includes:

• Carrying out dynamic risk assessments before and during classes.
• Using appropriate mats, spotting techniques, and progressions.
• Teaching only skills that fall within their level of training and competence.
• Regressing or modifying skills where necessary to maintain safety.

Safety must never be compromised for the sake of progression, performance, or social media content.

Respect & Inclusivity

Instructors must create a welcoming and respectful learning environment for all students.

This includes:

• Treating all students fairly and without discrimination.
• Supporting students of different abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs.
• Encouraging confidence, effort, and personal progress rather than comparison.

Every child should feel safe, supported, and valued within the class.

Professional Boundaries

Clear boundaries protect both students and instructors.

Instructors should:

• Avoid private messaging with students outside official studio channels.
• Use physical contact only when necessary for spotting or safety.
• Communicate professionally with parents or guardians.

Maintaining appropriate boundaries helps ensure trust and transparency.

Continuing Professional Development

Certified instructors are encouraged to continue developing their knowledge and skills through ongoing learning.

This may include:

• Updating safeguarding and first aid qualifications
• Attending aerial workshops or instructor training
• Keeping up to date with child development and safety standards

Professional development supports safer teaching and higher-quality classes.

Commitment to the Code

By completing this certification, instructors agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and maintain professional standards when delivering children’s aerial instruction.

Failure to adhere to these standards may result in certification being withdrawn or teaching privileges being reviewed.
